STAINED GLASS WINDOWS: Here is a little Youtube video that shows the church of St. John the Baptist after the removal of the windows. It's kind of a sad video because it is in honor of a church that is now closed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x42PeTl3mQM

Pastor's Welcome

Dear Visitor,

Holy Trinity Parish has a quality about it that can be attributed directly to our name. Just as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one God...we have many parts but are still one very united parish. This year we are looking at our prayer life and seeking ways to enhance our prayer: the public prayer at Mass especially on Sundays and our private prayer by encouraging everyone to examine their personal time at prayer and making a committment to never miss it. In looking at this core feature that makes us a faith community we therefore want to further strengthen our unity in the midst of the different affiliations and loyalties we experience here in Hartington, NE.

This parish located in some of the richest farm land God has to offer depends so much on what comes from the land. When the crops are looking good and prices are fair or better...everyone is happy. Why? Because our livlihood is much more secure. We want to be a grateful parish first to God for all His blessings. But this gratitude spills over into the generosity that marks our community. Even in lean times this generosity seems to have taken root in another kind of soil..the soil of our souls. It is there that God meets us and draws us to dwell with him forever in Heaven. Holy Trinity is Parish...a place to grow our faith, a place to serve our neighbor, a place to prepare for the life to come.

This website gives you just a taste of our parish. Explore the different pages and find out what helps to make us tick.

Sincerely,
Fr. Owen Korte
Pastor

Who We Are

The town of Hartington was founded in the fall of 1883, and within a few months the Catholic settlers of the town built Holy Trinity Church. This new parish received its first pastor in 1886, and was incorporated into the Diocese of Omaha on September 10, 1887. Several years later, in 1901, the parish built and opened Holy Trinity School for the education of its youth.

Today, Holy Trinity is made up of more than 570 households and educates more than 150 children in our PreK-6 school. Over 200 students attend Cedar Catholic Jr.-Sr. High School, which Holy Trinity and five other parishes support. Holy Trinity parishioners continue to make a positive impact on the Hartington community through their involvement, leadership, and way of life according to the Gospel message. Holy Trinity is proud to celebrate 125 years of faith and looks forward with hope to a bright future in God’s grace.
